About Our Country, "Sri Lanka"

Sri Lanka is an island of 25,300 square miles situated in the Indian ocean just south of India. The country has a population of 18 million people with diverse ethnic backgrounds. Approximately 75% of the population are Sinhalese, 18% are Tamil, 6% are Muslim and 1% other ethnic groups. Sinhala and Tamil are the two official languages of Sri Lanka, but English is widely used as a second language.

For a country about the size of West Virginia or Ireland, the things one can do is hard to imagine. Some of the things Sri Lanka offer to the tourists are surfing, wind surfing, scubadiving, golf, rock/mountain climbing, exotic flowers, search for ancient ruins, sculptures, artwork, wildlife, corral reefs, gemstones, spices, rituals, and most of all the Sri Lankan hospitality.
